Hello everyone! Thank you for joining me on Sniper Value Investing. So why the name?
A sniper is a military/paramilitary marksman who operates to maintain effective visual contact with the enemy and engage targets from concealed positions or at distances exceeding their detection capabilities. Snipers usually strike fear behind enemy lines because of their reputation of one-shot-one-kill.
Value investing is an investment framework which generally involves buying securities that appear underpriced by some form of fundamental analysis, though it has taken many forms since its inception. This mindset has been undertaken by some of the world’s most famous investors including Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger.
So how do we merge the two seemingly unrelated concepts?
For me, I believe it is about learning to pick out the right companies for investing based on their fundamentals. This is just like a sniper taking out his targets with the feared one-shot-one-kill precision.
I have met a couple of partners and mentors in investing, including (but not limited to) Jeremy Sim, Paul (who is also the author of The World of Value Investing) and Richmond from The Precession Effect (which I joined in January 2018), Kelvin Seetoh from Kelvestor, Jeremy Teo and Xin Er of Learnvestors, Chris Susanto from VIM and Rupam of Money Wise Smart.
Moving from hereon out, I strongly believe that a good mindset and knowledge base is key to succeeding in my investment journey. As Sun Tzu said “Know yourself and your enemy, and you will win a hundred battles”. As such, I will mainly be sharing about my learning in value investing that I learnt from my circle of mentors and friends. Hopefully, what is shared here will add value to you and help you achieve your financial dreams and goals, just as I am pursuing them.
